Notes:
📍 Roadmap
Stage 1: Pressure. Stage 2: Fore-Aft Balance. Stage 3: Straight-Line. Today, we are focusing on stage 1.
⚖️ Parallel Turns
Skis should be parallel when turning, this is achieved by tuning pressure distribution.
🙍 Upper Body
Upper body shouldn’t fall towards the hill. In your case, this is an indicator that you’re putting a lot of weight on the uphill ski. This degrades your balance and adaptability. Be conscious of your downhill shoulder.
🔋 Smooth Turns
Zigzag turns are very energy intensive. Tuning the pressure on each ski is going to help you start to achieve smoother, longer s-turns which are more efficient and let’s you cary more speed into long flat sections.
❄️ 1. Weight Distribution
70% of your weight on the downhill ski. On steeper terrain, it is especially important to have this pressure differential between your skis. You can continuously monitor yourself by just trying to lift the upper ski.
❄️ 2. Downhill Shoulder
Consciously use your downhill shoulder to put pressure on the downhill ski.
❄️ 3. Same Run
Keep practicing on the same run. This will give you that repeatability and confidence.
